In 2004, digital cameras had finally reached the point where you could buy a fairly decent small camera that would take 3.2 megapixel pictures for only a few hundred dollars and included a 2x optical zoom. I bought one. I was hooked. Of course, less than ten years later, the smart phone revolution/epidemic would make this technology available to a much wider audience, but that's a story for another album.
